Taylor and Leigh were married on April 26th at The Basilica of Saint Mary in Minnesota. Their Catholic wedding was elegant, traditional, and beautiful. They both inspired to have classic and timeless looks on their wedding day.How they met: We were set-up on a “double blind date” right before Thanksgiving in 2010. Taylor’s then-roommate Lauren introduced her to her friend, Alexandra, and after Taylor and Alexandra got talking, they agreed to meet at Central Kitchen in Cambridge and each bring an eligible guy they weren’t interested in dating the following week. Taylor brought her close friend from college (Ross), and Alexandra brought along her second cousin (Leigh). We both went into the date with low expectations (our previous blind dates had almost always ended in disaster), but even before the night was over, we knew that we wanted to see each other again . . . and the rest is history.
Any DIY? They had some family help on their Big Day! The maid of honor made the wedding cake herself and the mother of the bride made the cake pops! I love it when the family pitches in!
What was your favorite part of the day? Definitely the hardest question! We’d have to say the first dance; it felt like we were the only two people in the room yet we were simultaneously overwhelmed by the feeling of love and support from our family and friends.
Do you have advice for engaged couples still in the planning process? Two things. First, if possible, plan a welcome event for the night before the wedding to create more time to celebrate with family and friends. We held our rehearsal dinner on Thursday night so that we could invite our 200 wedding guests to a Friday event at Kieran’s Irish Pub (located just below the Graves 601 Hotel where our guests were staying). In- and out-of-towners alike were invited to grab a bite to eat or drinks in anticipation of the big day, so the wedding guests were able to mix and mingle and get to know each other before the wedding. We also had the chance to spend more quality time with the people who’d come from near and far to help us celebrate. Spend money on what matters to you. For us, the music, food and drinks, and photography were our top priorities, so we chose to spend the bulk of our budget on the band, the catering and bar, and a top-notch photographer and videographer.
